Anna's adventures

When I was pregnant with Whitley, she was very active. After she was born, she still seemed to be very active. So when Anna was docile in utero, I assumed that she would be docile after she was born. WRONG! She was just resting up! In the month and a half that we've been in Mississippi, Anna has discovered the knife drawer, stuffed crayons down the vent, learned to remove the vent cover and unlock doors. A few weeks ago, she discovered where my mother had put out rat poison (did not ingest and it was in what should have been a "safe place") and this morning she climbed the shelf in the bathroom all the way up to the medicine box (it's a 7 ft shelf). I can't keep a diaper on her without one piece footed pjs or onesies and she's just about figured how to take those off. She loves hiking in the pasture, riding her tricycle and flying her kite. She plays with puzzles and likes to "read". One would think she'd have enough playing to do that these other adventures wouldn't happen. Whitley never got into all of this trouble. Whitley obeyed. Other than coloring books, puzzles, bubbles, books, babies and TV, does anyone have suggestions for keeping this little one busy and out of trouble? She's wearing me out!

Snow Day

In pretty typical North Mississippi style, we had a warm end to February followed by a snowy start to March. It didn't last long. On the morning of March 1, we awoke to snow-covered fields and by the end of the day it was gone. Anna had a bad cough so she didn't get to enjoy it this time, but Whitley had a ball!

Flying Kites

Mama Dean found the perfect kites for pre-schoolers! They are inflated and fly very well. The girls are going to have a lot of fun with these this spring.

Playing outside

The girls are loving having plenty of space to run and play, and I'm loving being so far off the road a fence isn't necessary. Here are just a few pictures of their outdoor adventures.

Whitley's version of "Baa Baa Black Sheep"

Whitley hasn't quite deciphered the lyrics to this song. She pays tribute to my sister, Emily, and her daddy (3 dads full). She'll get it right later. In the meantime, it's cute and I get cheap entertainment.

Mini-Me

A month or so ago, one of my students saw a picture of Whitley on Facebook and commented that she was a "mini-me", meaning she looks like me. Well, that's not true. Whitley acts like me (first born) and Anna is proving to be her daddy's paybacks (little monkey). Yes, Whitley has some features and expressions that are mine, but overall, she looks like her daddy, only prettier (sorry Babe). Anna, on the other hand, is my little clone...only prettier. I didn't realize, though, until the other night how much Anna looks like me at her age. Here are samples. What's the verdict?

Too much sugar, maybe?

Really they haven't had a whole lot more sugar than they normally do. I don't know how their teachers at school keep up with them. After the last few days, I'm starting to remember how hard it was to keep them engaged and out of mischief on a daily basis.
In the first clip, Doyl spun Anna around several times and let her go. Since her head missed the entertainment center, I chose to include it. In the second clip, they were just wound up.
